Each year, a new UPUA Assembly is elected into position for the upcoming school year. UPUA, the University Park Undergraduate Association, is Penn State’s student government responsible for being the voice between senior leadership and the student body.
Last Wednesday, candidates set out to campaign for their seat in the 9th Assembly. Three presidential tickets ran for the highest voter turnout in UPUA history. Presidential candidate Melissa McCleery, a junior triple majoring in political science, women’s studies and Spanish, was hopeful throughout the day for a victory but unfortunately was unable to gain the title. She will continue in the assembly as an at-large representative. Anand Ganjam was elected as the next student body president.
